Hands of the Tide
The first chapter - S26
It started with a phone call we almost didn't make.
"Come with us. Tonight. Ten o'clock."
Twelve hours in the dark, somewhere between the Afurada docks and wherever the fish decide to go. Eight fishermen. No complaints. No drama. Just hands on nets and eyes on the water.
For hours, nothing. Then the bell rang.
Everything changed in seconds. Eight bodies moving at once, nets over the side, the boat tilting with the weight. Kilos and kilos of sardines coming up from the black water.
Out of breath, soaked, one of them looked at us:
"A vida no mar não é fácil."
Not as a complaint. Just as a truth he'd long made peace with.
We came back exhausted.
That's where Hands of the Tide was born —
in the cold, in the dark, with people who don't wait for perfect conditions.
